Doing Things Costs Money, Apparently

Oh what's this? A new post? The first post after the welcome? What exciting project are we kicking off?
Well, about that. I'd love to be reporting on my first project right now. But did you know that thing cost money? I know right, it's a shocking development.  I have a job, but it's not a pay week. So as I was looking at my ever-expanding list I realized a lot of the items require supplies that I don't have.  So many of these things have to do with making foodstuffs, so I think those things must have been added when I was hungry. Even the little things like finally learn how to wear contacts require me buying several pairs of colored contacts for my many failures.

I mean sure there are some not buying thing options, but those mostly have to do with watching or reading something. Those are really only on the list as filler projects to wind down from doing something big like making fancy mirror shoes from my old combat boots. I certainly can't start with something like that. I know what my so far non-existent audience wants.

But since I wanted to get this show on the road I added something to the list that I think will be free and also requires more than reading/watching (which isn't cheating, I make the rules). I have the next two days off so I will be devoting that time to seeing if I have smart dogs. I'll be giving them doggie IQ tests and I will let you know how that goes.

Until then, another gratuitous pet pic.

I don't know what kind of dog this is but it lives in my house.

Welcome!

So I have this deeply important internal struggle where I’m into blogs and blogging and I feel compelled to have my own blog, but I can’t actually do that. I had a fake sort of half blog that I wrote but never let loose on the world. In that blog I decided the things that kept me from blogging were as follows: nothing interesting happens to me, I’m not an expert in anything, and I don’t have one of those jobs that people are secretly dying to know about. So the content was stuff like me getting philosophical about having to wear headphones and talking about how awkward it is to call strangers on the phone.  Luckily, no one had to see any of that.

Anyway all of that is going to change because I know have something of substance to blog about. Get excited. Or don’t, I’m not here to tell you how to live your life, this is mostly for me anyway.

I’ve decided to make some changes in 2014. Not, like, resolutions or anything that. I just have things, mostly hobby-related, that I want to do or start doing, or learn how to do. I mean I live pretty much in the middle of no where, all of my good friends live hundreds of miles away and I have no romantic prospects to speak of. So I’ve got time and I’ve got to keep myself busy. So a couple of weeks ago I made this list (though it will probably get longer). It’s got stuff like learn a magic trick, do moss graffiti, make 5 types of hummus, run some miles, watch all the Studio Ghibli movies… A lot of it is inspired by things I’ve seen on Tumblr.  And I figure I might as well blog about my attempts, thought that’s mostly to motivate me to actually keep up with it. Either way I hope it will be entertaining for anyone reading. A lot of them involve me physically doing things and I’m pretty terrible at doing most things so I think that is something to get excited about.

I plan on starting immediately while the year is still young, but I am still working on schools stuff so I don’t have ALL the free time, just some of it. I can work solidly on one thing a week, maybe not one new thing, ongoing things maybe. I’ll do more intensive stuff, like tackling languages and learning how to photoshop after the school stuff is done (which, Christ, I hope is soon I am so ready to be DONE)
So here it is. The blog. It exists, officially, with a purpose. And it’s going to have content and all that good stuff.

Also since this has been a wordy post have a gratuitous pet pic.
